Dr. K.N. Vyas is a distinguished Homi Bhabha Chair Professor at the Department of Atomic Energy, a former Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, and a former Secretary of the Department of Atomic Energy. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from MS University, Vadodara, Dr Vyas completed his training with the 22nd Batch of the BARC Training School in 1979, after which he joined the Fuel Design & Development Section of the Reactor Engineering Division at BARC.
Dr. Vyas has made significant contributions to the design and analysis of nuclear reactor fuels, including the development of a novel fuel for strategic applications. His expertise extends to thermal hydraulics and stress analysis of critical reactor core components, where he played a pivotal role in executing strategic projects. Notably, Dr. Vyas was a key contributor to the design and analysis of the Test Blanket Module for the international ITER project in France.
Dr. Vyas’s significant contributions to the field have been acknowledged with several prestigious awards. These include the Indian Nuclear Society Outstanding Service Award in 2011, the Homi Bhabha Science and Technology Award in 2006, and multiple DAE Awards between 2007 and 2013. His status as a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineers further underscores his expertise and dedication.
In 2016, Dr. Vyas was appointed Director of BARC, and in 2018, he ascended to the role of Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary of the Department of Atomic Energy. After an illustrious career spanning 44 years, Dr. Vyas retired on May 3, 2023.
Currently, Dr. Vyas serves on two prestigious bodies representing Tata Trusts: the Court of IISc as a Tata Trusts nominee and the Council of Management at TIFR.
Other Directorships: From March 2016 to March 2019, Dr Vyas served as a Nominee Director on the boards of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited and Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited.

Dr Mittal has served on the Boards of various institutions and professional bodies, including IIM Trichy, RGIPT Amethi and Sivasagar, the National HRD Network, and the Hydrocarbon Sector Skill Council. She has also been the CEO of the Hydrocarbon Sector Skill Council. She is a member of IIM-Ahmedabad's Global Community of Practice, an opt-in group of leaders and professionals.
Since 2001, Dr Mittal has trained more than 12000 ONGC graduate Trainees on Corporate Governance and is dedicated to coaching young professionals.

Atul joined TCE in 2017 and currently leads a team of domain experts to create innovative solutions and prepare the organisation for adopting new and futuristic technologies. Download ProfileMr Sriram Kadiyala is a Non-Independent Director on the Board of Tata Consulting Engineers Limited. He has more than 15 years of experience in the finance domain, including corporate relationship management, project finance, leverage finance, capital markets, and rating advisory. He has been with Tata Group since September 2017 and is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Tata Electronics Private Limited. Prior to his current role, Mr Sriram worked in the Group Chairman’s office at Tata Sons.
With more than 40 years of experience in the Power Industry at various leadership positions, Anjali is the Non-Independent Director at Tata Consulting Engineers Limited (TCE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Limited. TCE offers a wide range of multi-disciplinary services in Design & Engineering and Project Management across several sectors.
Anjali has about four decades of multi-faceted experience in the Power sector. Her experience includes leadership roles in Engineering, Project Management, Commissioning & Maintenance of Power plants and Transmission systems. She has held the position of Chief (Corporate) Engineering prior to superannuating from Tata Power after 39 years of service.
Anjali has extensive experience in managing the basic engineering and technology selection in the engineering of Thermal Power plant projects and major capital expenditure projects for meeting emission norms in Thermal plants. She has expertise in Project Management, Commissioning and Maintenance of Thermal Power plants, quality management of projects in Generating plants and Transmission systems.
Anjali’s experience also includes Human Resources with a focus on development of new HR processes and systems. Anjali has also served as the POSH Chairman for Tata Power Group of Companies for the last five years of her stint at Tata Power.
Anjali has also been associated as a Consultant for the planning and execution of large infrastructure projects. She continues to serve as a Board member on multiple Tata Power subsidiary companies, such as Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd, Industrial Energy Limited and WalwhanRenewable Energy Limited.
Download ProfileSince May 2019, Mr Ashok Sethi is the Chairman of Tata Consulting Engineers. Backed by an extensive experience of 43+ years across the utility sector value chain Mr Sethi in his last role, was the Chief Operating Officer & Executive Director at Tata Power Company Limited. He is a well known expert in thermal and renewable generation, transmission& distribution, fuel procurement, project execution, O&M services and power trading.
Mr Sethi holds the merit of leading business strategy and growth through M&A and Green Field Projects. He has also managed various other critical corporate functions like Engineering, O&M transformation, Testing & QA, Environment, Projects, Corporate affairs, Regulatory Legal & Advocacy, Commercial, Security and Safety.
Along with serving on the Board of Tata Power as Executive Director, Mr Sethi was also a board member on seven key Tata Power Subsidiary and JV companies. He was also the Chairman of Coastal Gujrat Power Limited (4000MW), Maithon Power Limited, WREL (Renewables), Industrial Energy Limited (Thermal Generation) and TPTCL (Trading). He has also served on the board of companies like AGL, Georgia, ITPC Zambia and MSEB Holding Company Limited.
His expertise and innovative thinking on sectoral reforms, has allowed him to lead regulatory and advocacy efforts for over a decade. He also has the unique experience of managing a parallel distribution licensee in Mumbai in a very competitive environment and steered the company into achieving major market share in Mumbai transmission and nurtured distribution from 22,000 to 700,000 customers through long term planning and high-quality service. In 2014, he architected the efforts for re-obtaining the distribution & transmission licenses in Mumbai for Tata Power for a period of 25 years.
Mr Sethi also has been an active member of multiple executive & core committees of renowned institutes like WRPC, CBIP, MSPC etc. He has invested in building strong relationships with key stakeholders in government, regulators, customers, associations & community. His thought leadership and valuable insights have led him to contribute in areas like Sectoral Reforms, Regulations, Operations, Energy Efficiency & Demand Side Management.
Recently, he led an O&M transformation across Tata Power GTD assets to a completely digitalised Reliability Centered Maintenance on an IoT platform. His unique analytical and artificial intelligence-based approach propelled competency building, process simplification, big data analytics and optimum cost of O&M. He has mentored and coached leaders to create a good bench strength in Tata Power and has conducted workshops on acquiring transformational leadership capability for senior executives.
Mr Sethi has authored many papers in professional forums and media on tariff design for Discoms, parallel licensee operations, embedded generation, grid integration with renewables, distribution technologies, customer service, reliability of supply and implementation of new environment norms.
