Associated with 85% of India’s Nuclear Power and Partnering the Indigenous Power Journey

Proud to be associated with NPCIL as Engineering Consultants for the Nuclear Reactor located at Kakrapara, Gujarat

Tata Consulting Engineers Limited (TCE) is proud to be associated with the Design Engineering of the Reactor Unit which includes engineering for various systems and digital engineering for Nuclear Island and Turbine Island as well as the development of first Mobile Fuel Transfer Machine for 700 MWe PHWR. TCE continues to support the nation in its journey of indigenous development of Nuclear Power Plants.

This Nuclear power plant, located at Kakrapar, near Surat in Gujarat State, is the first indigenously built unit of PHWR of 700MWe capacity in which TCE worked very closely with NPCIL. In this reactor, NPCIL introduced several special safety features. TCE has carried out detailed engineering of light water piping, HVAC, electrical and C&I systems and developed an integrated 3D model which includes entire reactor systems along with safety systems, utilities and secondary cycle. This was the first time such an integrated 3D engineering was performed for an indigenous Nuclear Power Plant. TCE was also associated with the complete engineering and 3D modelling of BoTIP for this Nuclear reactor.

We at Tata Consulting Engineers are very proud partners of NPCIL in their journey. TCE has been involved in 85% of the nuclear plants in the country in one way or the other and has been working with various other institutions of the Department of Atomic Energy as well. We also worked with NPCIL on the first 500 MWe PHWR in Tarapur (TAPP 3&4). Dr H N Sethna was our first Chairman, and we continue the legacy till today.
