TCE has participated in power projects aggregating over 41,000MW capacity in India and abroad. Its expertise and competencies extend to both conventional and non-conventional power generation – coal and oil-fired thermal plants, gas turbine based open and combined cycle plants, cogeneration plants, diesel generator plants, hydel stations, pumped storage schemes and nuclear power plants.

TCE provides a wide range of services to meet the diverse requirements of different participating agencies - utilities, independent power producers (IPP), EPC contractors and lending institutions. Decades of experience in the design and development of power plants has enabled the company to pioneer features and improve efficiency, availability and reliability of units.

Primarily, TCE's role is that of an Architect Engineer for several clients, including the state electricity boards in India. The company has also been associated with several power projects implemented on an EPC basis as Owner's Engineer. TCE has provided pre-bid engineering services as well as detailed engineering services to Indian and foreign EPC contractors. The company has also conducted due diligence studies and other services as Lender's Engineer on power projects.

Gas based turbines
TCE has been associated with the installation of power plants ranging from 3 MW to 1500 MW capacity - operated as simple cycle, combined cycle and co generation - and burning various fuels including gas, light diesel oil, high speed diesel etc. TCE has experience with gas turbines of different classes and makes, including General Electric, Siemens, Alstom, Mitsubishi and ABB.
TCE experience

Diesel generator power plants
TCE has considerable experience in the engineering of diesel generator power plants of different sizes and makes and utilising fuels such as HFO and LSHS as the load bearing fuel.
TCE experience

Hydropower
TCE's expertise in this sector includes planning, designing and implementation of various facets of hydropower projects involving dams, tunnels, low and high-pressure steel penstocks, powerhouses and tailrace systems.

TCE's competence embraces hydrology, geology, geo-technical engineering, electro-mechanical engineering, hydraulic structures and power evacuation.

The company has renovated and upgraded hydropower stations and provided engineering services for hydraulic design, water hammer studies, penstock designs, flood analysis and spillway designs. It has engineered several mini and micro hydropower stations.

TCE undertakes finite element analysis of gravity dams and dam safety reviews. TCE has also worked on designing new dams and strengthening and rehabilitation of old dams

Renewable sources
Biomass is a valuable ecological resource that is ideally suited for rural electrification projects as it is a convenient and renewable fuel. TCE has worked on an electrification project in Karnataka, where eight villages will have electricity generated through burning of eucalyptus wood. The company has also provided reports to TCS on the feasibility of small-scale biomass projects.

Wind is a major renewable source of energy; this is an area where the company has provided engineering and consultancy services to many clients.
