Engineering Export Promotion Council Award
Mr N W Ranadive received the Engineering Export Promotion Council award on behalf of TCE from the Minister of Industries, Employment and Self Employment, Govt. of Maharashtra, Mr Rajendra Darda, at Mumbai on August 6, 2010. TCE was awarded the Star Performer (Medium Enterprise) Award in the product group Engineering Services in recognition for outstanding contribution to Engineering Exports for 2007-08.
 
 
Low Cost Housing -Today’s Need
Ms Vidya Devi and Ms Rinku Taur, presented their paper titled ‘Low Cost Housing’ at BITS Pilani, Rajasthan from 25-27 October2009. The paper was published originally in the proceedings of ‘International Conference on Advances in Concrete, Structural and Geotechnical Engineering.’

The paper showed how mass housing targets can be achieved by replacing the conventional methods of planning and executing building operation based on special and individual needs and accepting common denominator based on surveys, population needs and rational use of materials and resources.

 
 
Safety Challenges in Construction Sector
Mr. J L Thakkar chaired a session on Managing Safety in Construction Sector at the conference on Safety Challenges in Construction Sector, organized by Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) on 11-12 June 2009 in Mumbai.

A paper on Safety in Erection of Large Industrial Projects co-authored by Mr. Pramod Gunthe and Mr. N S Agashe was presented. In the paper, the authors brought out as to how TCE manages construction sites and suggested that the business houses have to look beyond the statute and work with the agencies involved in the project execution as a team, to make the construction sites Accident-Free.

 
 
Integrated Water Resources Management
Two papers were presented by TCE in the one day seminar on Integrated Water Resources Management - Demand Assessment and Management organized by the Bureau of Indian Standards in New Delhi on March 2009.

Mr. J K Singh presented a paper titled 'Holistic Approach towards Water Management: A Framework for Action'. Mr. Sharvil Shah presented another paper on 'Water Audit-Need of the Hour', which was co-authored by Ms Sasmita Panda and Ms Dharti Thakar.
 
 
Nuclear Exhibition
At the exhibition organised by the Indian Nuclear Society, a stall was put up which showcased the capabilities of TCE in civilian nuclear area. On this occasion, Mr K V Subramanian addressed a distinguished audience.
 
 
Inauguration of the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP)
QSTP was officially inaugurated on 16 March 2009 by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al-Missned. TCE is the only Indian company among leading global companies at the QSTP. As one of the partner companies, TCE will be working on cutting edge technological development out of the subsidiary company TCE-QSTP LLC established at QSTP for providing solutions in the field of energy and environment.
 
 
India-Africa project partnership
Celebrating partnerships was the theme of the 5th CII-Exim Bank Conclave on India-Africa Project Partnership held in New Delhi on March 2009. As a part of the Tata group, TCE reaffirmed its thrust to explore new opportunities in Africa.
 
 
South Africa: Trade and Investment Opportunities Conference
Mr R Raghavan represented TCE at the South Africa: Trade & Investment Opportunities Conference held in Bangalore in February 2009, organised by the CII. A presentation on TCE capabilities, areas of operations and presence in South Africa was given, followed by a lively interaction with the delegates. Similar interactions also took place in Mumbai and New Delhi.
 
 
Biology meets Engineering - opportunities and implications
A seminar on the interaction of engineering with biology was held jointly by TCE and Virginia Tech, USA in Mumbai. The concept of ‘Biology meeting Engineering’ is that many processes and matters in biology present lessons and ways for engineering. The participants came away feeling much more informed about the intersection of biology and engineering, the current status of research in USA and the potential developments and applications. Commercial application in the areas TCE is involved in was also explored.
 
 
Energy Efficiency
Mr U Hambarde, chaired a session in a seminar on "Energy Efficiency Capacity Building Strategies”, organised by Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Mr J L Thakker, Ms A Joshi and Mr V V Barve also presented papers at the seminar. Various viable ways to save energy were discussed in the seminar.
 
 
Seminar on Nanotechnology
TCE and Virginia Tech, USA jointly organised a seminar on ‘Nanotechnology — Opportunities and Implications’ on 18 October 2008 in Mumbai. It was the first in the series of seminars on emerging issues in technology.

The inaugural session was well attended by high profile dignitaries from various Tata and non-Tata companies and professors from Virginia Tech. The distinguished gathering was addressed by TCE Chairman, Mr Syamal Gupta and CEO & MD, Mr A P Mull. Introduction to the seminar series was given by Virginia Tech Vice President for Outreach & International Affairs, Dr John E Dooley and Professor and Head, Engineering Science & Mechanics, Dr Ishwar K Puri. Counselor for Science, Technology, Environment and Health Affairs at the Embassy of USA at New Delhi, Dr Satish V Kulkarni appraised the gathering on the activities of the India-US High Technology Cooperation Group. The keynote address was delivered by Dr F C Kohli, Advisor to Tata Sons Limited and former Deputy Chairman, Tata Consultancy Services.

Participants from TCE, other Tata and non-Tata companies and Virginia Tech Alumni will explore possibilities of the commercial applications of Nanotechnology, in the areas their organisations are involved in. TCE and Virginia Tech plan to hold such seminars at regular intervals.

 
 
ICC award
In recognition of the efforts made by TCE, Indian Chemical Council (ICC) awarded the Certificate of Merit for Excellence in Chemical Plant Design and Engineering for the year 2007. TCE brought out innovation in plant design and engineering for the manufacture of distilled fatty acids. The new plant design is environment-friendly and can result in large savings in energy and water. It is also less capital-intensive as compared to existing distillation plants. The award was presented by His Excellency Shri S C Jamir, Governor of Maharashtra at a special function held in Taj President, Mumbai on 26 September 2008.
 
 
TCE establishes subsidiary in Qatar
TCE has established a company in Qatar, ‘TCE QSTP-LLC’ at Qatar Science & Technology Park Free Zone, which will be operative by the end of 2008. TCE will carry out major applied research and development related to energy, water, material science, development of new software, modeling activities, selection and scale up of university related research work related to nanotechnology, technical consulting, etc.
 
 
Celebrating India Africa Partnership
The 8th Regional Conclave on India Africa Partnership was held at Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in August 2008. TCE has been playing a key role in this partnership.
 
 
IndiaUSP Jaipur - Conference and Exhibition
TCE participated in the two-day (June 21-22, 2008) workshop on 'Comprehensive development planning for cities in Rajasthan: Challenges and opportunities' organised by India Urban Space Foundation in partnership with the Government of Rajasthan at Jaipur. The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ms Vasundhara Raje, who visited the TCE stall was appraised of TCE's experience and capabilities.
 
 
India Infrastructure Facility
Mr A P Mull, ED & CEO, delivered a ‘Welcome and Perspective’ Lecture at the ‘India Infrastructure Facility: A CII – US Exim Bank Reception’, held in Mumbai, in May 2008. Mr. Mull talked about the growing economic scene of India and pointed that Indian Infrastructure is witnessing an interest from investors including through dedicated infra funds. Mr. James Lambright, Chairman of US Exim Bank was also present.
 
  Government of Maharashtra Award
Mr A P Mull, ED & CEO accepted the Service Exporter Award (2006-07 and 2005-06) for TCE from Mr Ashok Chavan, Honourable Minister for Industries and Mines, Cultural Affairs and Protocol, government of Maharastra. Awarded by the government of Maharashtra, the award is in appreciation of the export achievement by TCE.
 
  Award for Promising Innovation
At the Tata Innovation Day organised by the TBEM Western Region Forum - Pune Chapter on April 18, 2008, TCE got an award for its case on "Generating Electricity from an old abandoned Dam". The case was presented by Ms Ashwini Kavishwar.




TCE was awarded the Hercules Category Award for its contribution in successful execution of Innovative Concept - India’s first Roller Compacted Concrete Dam.
The Ghatghar dam is the 10th fastest constructed dam in the world.
 
  Jury's award from Architects, Engineers and Surveyors Association
TCE received the Jury's award from Architects, Engineers and Surveyors Association (AESA) of Pune for Best Managed Project" for Ascent Building engineered by TCE for Siporex India Ltd. from Mr. Kamal Hadkar, an eminent structural engineer on 8th March 2008.

The award is given for the best coordination in terms of design engineering and construction management services and recognises the excellent processes and documentation of TCE.

 
 
Pune Expo 2008
TCE participated in the Pune Expo 2008, which was held from February 28 - March 3, 2008. The exhibition was organised by Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture, Pune.
 
  India-Africa Project Partnership Conclave
TCE participated in the India-Africa Project Partnership Conclave held in New Delhi on March 2008. Prominent delegates from Africa were present at the conclave.

  Methane to Market
TCE and CII organised a workshop on Methane to Market Advancements in Oil and Gas Operations in February 2008 in Navi Mumbai. The objective of the workshop was to promote the Methane to Market (M2M) technology- transfer between India and USA.
 
  Tenth Consultancy Congress on Outsourcing: Role of Consultants
TCE participated in the Tenth Consultancy Congress on Outsourcing : Role of Consultants organised by Consultancy Development Centre at New Delhi in January 2008.
 
  CII - IBSA Summit 2007

  India's leading Infrastructure Companies 2007
Mr A P Mull, ED & CEO was on the panel discussion on "Encouraging private sector participation in the Indian Infrastructure Sector" organised by Dun & Bradsheet in Mumbai in December 2007. The panel discussion was also aired on NDTV Profit, the business news channel.
 
  Highest Delta Award In Business Excellence
TCE was awarded the Highest Delta Award by TQMS, in the TBEM convention held in Pataya in December 2007. 44 Tata Group Companies had participated in the process.
 
 
First Indo-French Nuclear Industry Business Meet
Mr K V Subramanian presented a paper on ‘Engineering Services for the Nuclear Power Industry’ at the ‘First Indo-French Nuclear Industry Business Meet’ held in Mumbai in October 2007. The Meet discussed numerous issues like the Indian nuclear power programme, the Indian nuclear industry and its perspectives, planning of the nuclear power development, etc.
 
  India Urban Space 2007

TCE participated in the India Urban Space 2007 held in Mumbai in September 2007 by presenting papers and displaying exhibits in the event. TCE stall had many visitors.
 
 
SMiRT 19
The International Conference on ‘Structural Mechanics in Reactor Technology’ was held in Toronto, Canada in August 2007. Mr K V Subramanian and Mr R Balaji presented 3 papers co-authored by S M Palekar and H A Mapari on the design of the nuclear structures like tunnels and trenches, nuclear island building and sub assembly storage. Mr K V Subramanian also chaired the sessions on Waste Storage and Management and Low Activation Reinforced Concrete Programme. The participants included Atomic Energy of Canada, US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Nuclear Power Corporation India Limited and others.
